How To Use Our Products

All witches use things in a very different ways, depending on how you were taught, your path/culture or just how you feel at the time. Feel free to adapt the use of each item to your own specifications and requirements, however, we do ask that you heed our warnings in bold text. We are not liable for any misuse of our products or items.

For your safety, all of our products are sold for magical use only. Keep away from children and pets. When using our products the customer agrees to using at their own risk. Do not take internally and do not use on the skin. The Village Witch and staff can not and will not take any responsibility for our products misuse or for any magical work undertaken on your behalf.  What you do with our products or what you have asked for in a magical sense with spells, is up to you and is your responsibility. By UK law are obliged to state that our products are not for use on the skin (unless otherwise stated) because, quite simply, we are not a skin care company. Any item that goes onto the skin, magical or otherwise, and sold by a UK shop must have a safety assessment for each product made created by a certified chemist. If your current shop does not have this safety assessment then they are selling magical oils / roll ons / bath salts / ritual salts etc illegally.  Gloves, cotton buds, pippettes, tissue and cloth are all great ways to add our products to your tools. and please remember…. this is a UK legal requirement to state this.

Spell Candles

These are much smaller than other candles and burn for about 2 hours. Use in the same way as the 7 day jar candles by anointing them with oil and powder (or just oil, or even just burn them on their own). You can also carve names into these candles with a sharp knife or a pin. You can also add herbs to these candles by anointing with oil and them rolling them in herbs of your choice. As you anoint the candles focus on the goal you want to achieve. If candles contain herbs or any other additions, please watch carefully whilst burning as these may catch alight. Never leave any burning candles unattended. Burn out of reach of children and pets. Extinguish candles with a candle snuffer. Do not blow them out. Never use water to extinguish a candle.Ensure candles are placed at least 10cm / 4 inches apart and allow headroom above the candle for the heat to disperse. Ensure candles are burned away from flammable items. Candles should be burned away from other sources of heat such as television sets and away from direct sunlight. Candles should be burned in an area free from draughts. Trim wick to 1cm before lighting or relighting. If the candle smokes, extinguish and trim the wick. Remove all packaging. charms and labels before use. Use a suitable non-flammable holder. Ensure candles are burned in an upright position. To avoid damage to surfaces, always place candles and candle holders on a surface that will not be damaged by heat e.g. ceramic tiles or plates. Table mats are NOT suitable. Do not move candles when lit or the wax is still liquid.

Crystal Charged Candles

These have a burn time of approx 12 hours and are used for longer spells that require devotion time. Each candle can be anointed with oils and powders with a petition paper underneath or name carved into the candle to create your spell, or simply burnt alone on your altar. Keep your wick short for less smoke. If candles contain herbs or any other additions, please watch carefully whilst burning as these may catch alight. Never leave any burning candles unattended. Burn out of reach of children and pets. Extinguish candles with a candle snuffer. Do not blow them out. Never use water to extinguish a candle.Ensure candles are placed at least 10cm / 4 inches apart and allow headroom above the candle for the heat to disperse. Figure Image Candles

Carve the target’s name into the candle and anoint with a matching or relevant spell oil (and/or spell powder). Can be used singularly or in pairs or groups. If using more than one for attraction, have each candle facing each other with a gap and burn for an hour each day, moving them one step closer each day until on the final day of the burning they are touching. To burn more than one to separate, break up or push away, have each candle facing away from each other standing together, burn for one hour a day and then move them one step away from each other until the final day of burning they are far apart and still facing away from each other. If candles contain herbs or any other additions, please watch carefully whilst burning as these may catch alight. Never leave any burning candles unattended. Burn out of reach of children and pets. Extinguish candles with a candle snuffer. 3 Day Novena Candles

3 day novena candles are often used as standalone tools for a single ritual, but they can also be used as a compliment to other ritual tools. They are used to represent, pray to and devote to a specific Saint. Although traditionally they are intended to be burned to completion over a period of about 3 days, there are other acceptable ways to burn them and this includes burning them for a few hours each day and then snuffing them out. As with any candle, your safety is always paramount and if it is not safe for you to burn a candle consistently for 3 days then please be sensible and light it for a few hours each day instead. We offer dress, bless and burning services if you cannot burn your own 3 day candles and details of this are on each 3 day candle page. If you wish to dress and burn yourself, simply add a small drop of the corresponding oil to the top of the candle each time you light it. Write a petition (wish) and include names and dates of births of the target and then stick this to the side of the jar with sticky tape OR place underneath. Place a photo (or other representation) of the target under the candle. Then light your candle. 7 Day Jar Candles

Although traditionally they are intended to be burned to completion over a period of about 7 days, there are other acceptable ways to burn them and this includes burning them for a few hours each day and then snuffing them out. If you wish to dress and burn yourself, simply add a small drop of the corresponding oil to the top of the candle each time you light it. If you have ordered a dressed candle, your candle will come dressed at the top with a handmade spell oil and herbs/roots etc. This will then be sealed with cling film just so the dressing doesn’t go everywhere when shipped to you. Paper Luminary Lanterns / Candle Bags

Paper luminaries (or paper lanterns) provide soft illumination that is both functional and decorative.They are great for spellwork outside as well as an outside altar. Try writing a wish or spell petition on the base of the lantern, then simply place a small amount of sand, soil or pebbles inside to weigh down, add a tealight candle and enjoy the soft romantic glow. Add a new candle each time to renew your spell and as your petition or wish is at the bottom, no one will ever know! Always make sure lanterns are weighted down. Handmade Loose Incense

Loose incense is used to cleanse or purify an area as well as add an extra magical layer to a spell when you use the corresponding incense to the spell theme. Using tongs, light a charcoal disc and place in a deep, heatproof ceramic dish or bowl. Allow the disc to burn across and once the charcoal disc starts to turn a grey rather than black, add a small amount (a pinch) of your loose incense to the middle of the charcoal disc and allow the incense to smoulder and smoke. You must allow the charcoal disc to turn grey before adding on the incense, as burning incense at too high heat can cause incense to explode. If you get any large chunks of resin in your incense tubs, please make sure you crunch down down a bit before using. Our incense is very pure and you only need a small amount which is why ours lasts so long. As you are preparing and burning the incense focus on the goal you want to achieve and surround yourself in the energy and cleansing smoke from the incense. If you can not burn incense for whatever reason, simply use a standard tealight oil burning and instead of add oil and water to the top, add the water as normal (but less of it) and add some of the incense to the water. Never leave lit incense or charcoal unattended. Keep away from children and pets. Burn in a heatproof holder and away from flammable items. Do not take internally or use on the skin.

Oils & Powders

You can use powders and oils in a number of ways. You can use both the matching oil and powder on a candle before it is burnt to aid the magical work. So for example, a few drops of come to oil and a sprinkling of come to me powder on a red spell candle or a 7 day come to me jar candle would aid that magical work for a come to me spell. Powders and oils can also be used inside as an ingredient and on the outside to feed mojo bags, gris gris bags and magical pouches. Powders can be sprinkled around your home or personal items that have some link to your magical work (for example, for workings for money, sprinkle in or around your purse) or they can be sprinkled around the intended persons home or items (for example, a crossing powder could be sprinkled around the home of someone you wish to cross). Oils can be used in the same way as powders as above but can also be added to an oil burner and burnt. Some of the oils do not smell fragranced as they are meant to be that way, but you can add an extra fragrance oil to the oil burner if you wish. Do not take internally or use on the skin.

Oil Burners

Place on a flameproof surface and away from draughts. Fill the small bowl on the top with some water and add a 5 drops of essential oil OR 10 drops of a TVW spell oil (or incense see our loose incense section above) to the water. Place a tea light candle underneath the oil burner in the hole on the side or the holder it provides and then light the candle. This will heat up the water mix in the bowl above and spread the magic. Floor Washes, Vinegars & Waters

Floor washes, vinegars and waters are used to cleanse and purify. They also add an extra layer of physical magic to your spell as you physically clean away negativity and draw in positivity for your spell theme. All of our floor washes, vinegars and waters can be used in the same way. You can either add them to a bowl of water and wash the outside of your home entrances, for example your front door, doorstep, window sills etc) or the can be flicked around a room on the inside to settle the vibrations and raise the energy in the home. As you use the water or wash focus your intent on the outcome. Please be warned that our waters, vinegars & floor washes may stain wood, some plastics, fabrics and carpets.  Do not take internally or use on the skin.

Mojo Bags

Your bag should not be seen or touched by anyone else apart from the person making it for you and yourself. If anyone else touches it or sees it once it has been made and blessed then the bag can just ‘stop working’. Feeding is just like any other feeding, you are giving nourishment to sustain the life of the mojo bag. You only need to feed your mojo bag once a week and can be fed by powder or oil (or a mixture of the two) and your own energy. Add the oil/powder to the outside of the bag (do not open the bag) and then hold it in both hands and concentrate hard on your intent. You will know when it is time to stop because the bag will feel charged or ‘full’ in your hands. Usually around 3-5 minutes.

Aura Sprays

Spray a few squirts of the aura spray around the room you would like to bless/cleanse. Allow yourself to feel relaxed, breathe deeply and let the spray cleanse and bless the entire room. Works in the same was as incense without all the mess! Do not take internally or use on the skin. Please be warned that our aura sprays may stain wood, some plastics, fabrics and carpets.  Do not take internally or use on the skin.

Himalayan Salt Chunk & Herb Ambient Magic Mixes

Hold the jar in your hand and charge with your energy by thinking about what you want to happen (charging the jar with your intent) and then simply leave the jar in a room with the lid off and allow it to do it’s thing. After a while the salt chunk will start to disintegrate (will take between 1-5 months depending on where you have the pot, the more damp/wet the room, the quicker it will disintegrate) and this is completely normal. The salt particles release into the air and the herbs and essential oils all aid your cleansing or spell work. Not to be used on the skin or taken internally.

Cleansing Salt Mixes

Use to cleanse or remove something. Sprinkle around the outside of your home, work or car. Use inside your home or in gardens (not if you have pets or young children!), sprinkle around the base of a spell candle when working a spell. Or simply sprinkle in a mojo bag or witchy pouch. Use directly at a target or sprinkled over a target photo. Not to be used on the skin or taken internally.

Lodestones

Lodestones can be used for various purposes to attract something to your life. You can use them in pairs or singularly. The choice is yours and even though there are various ways to use them and all practitioners use them in different ways, there is no right or wrong way as long as the basic ‘feeding’ system is incorporated into your lodestones life. Lodestones from TVW are sent in pairs, 1 male and 1 female. The male is the longer lodestone and the female is the more round or cube like lodestone. You can use them together for love spells or individually for your own workings on targets etc. We can also make male-male pairs and female-female pairs so if you require this pairing we would love to make the set for you! Just drop us a note in the ‘notes’ section of the checkout when purchasing your pair and ask for the pair to be swapped to what you need. Lodestones are often placed on a plate with a candle spell, your petition under the plate and any trinkets or ingredients you wish to add to the plate and feed once a week with lodestone feed. Lodestone feed either comes as magnetic sand or iron filings. You can also add drops of magical oil to your stone too to give it an extra layer of magical feeding. Once a month, wash the lodestones to remove the iron filings and oil in whiskey or Florida water, give it a few days rest and then start again if you need to. Lodestones can die. This means they become no longer responsive to magnetism. This is often caused by being dropped, banged or having a lot of heat put on to them. Our lodestones are natural and not painted, this is so you can use them for any purpose. Not to be used on the skin or taken internally.

Roots

Roots are used in a variety of ways. Inside mojo bags, added to spell bottles, added to your handbag and carried etc. Do not take internally or use on the skin.

Herbs

Herbs can be used in spell pouches, mojo bags, candles, oils, incense, thrown at a targets property, used in letters and mail etc. Do not take internally or use on the skin.

Magical Honey

Our small jars of magical honey have not just been charged and blessed but have also had herbs, roots, petals, essential oils and metallic elements such as gold leaf, silver leaf etc, added to them. They are small enough to be portable and can be used in a variety of ways such as: Rub into and anoint a candle to dress a candle. Use as a standalone honey jar. Add the contents to your own honey jar. Add to your altar/shrine as an offering. Keep with you as an all round tool. Do not take internally or use on the skin.

Inks

Our handmade magical inks are handmade with pigments, resin and essential oils. Each ink is handmade and blessed to order and can be used in a variety of ways such as petition and spell writing, writing on charms, amulets and talismans, writing in grimoires, creating sigils and many more. You can use a fountain pen, quill or even a stick to dip into the ink and write. Why not dab a few dots of ink onto a spell sheet to seal the spell, or write a love letter and dab the four corners of the letter with the ink to add extra magic to it. You could even create a magic spell by writing out a cheque or cashbook in the ink! Don’t just think writing. Think decorating, painting, dabbing etc. Every time you use this ink it adds an extra layer of magic to your spell. Pigments may settle during transit so please shake extremely well before use. Inks WILL stain. Do not use on the skin or take internally.

Spellvelopes

Sit quietly and read the words on the front the envelope repeatedly in your mind and as you do, hold the spellvelope in your hands charging it with your energy. Once you feel like you have charged up your spellvelope enough (you will know) then using a match or lighter, or the flame from the candle burn one corner of the spellvelope and then drop immediately into your heat proof dish, saucepan or into the bonfire. Allow the spellvelope to burn completely to seal the spell. Never leave any burning items, including spellevelopes, unattended. Burn out of reach of children and pets Ensure spellvelopes are burned away from flammable items. Spellvelopes should be burned away from other sources of heat such as television sets and away from direct sunlight. Spellvelopes should be burned in an area free from draughts. Use a suitable non-flammable holder. To avoid damage to surfaces, always place holders on a surface that will not be damaged by heat e.g. ceramic tiles or plates. Table mats are NOT suitable. Do not move spellvelopes or the holder when lit, wait for the burning process to end. In an emergency, extinguish spellvelopes (if needed) with a fire blanket or lid to a cauldron. Do not blow them out.

Pop-A-Spell Bubbles

Shake the bottle gently (whilst holding the lid on) to activate the oils and herbs in the bubbles then whilst holding the bubble pot in your hand, push intent into the bubble pot, start to blow the bubbles and as the bubbles pop, allow your spell to be taken to the Universe to be listened to. Do not take internally or use on the skin. Keep bubble mix away from eyes. Always blow bubbles away from you and others.

Spell Shooters

Best used outside. Hold away from people’s faces and point the shooter towards the sky, pull plunger down so it extends to full length and make sure lid is tightly on and then push plunger up quickly with force to make the lid pop off and shoot the spell in the air. Tissue paper hearts are biodegradable. Please make sure that you are away from other people and that you point the shooter into the air as you shoot. Think of it as a party popper with a hard lid, safety first.

Magical Rice

Sprinkle around the base of a candle during spellwork. Sprinkle around your home outside (not if you have pets or young children). Sprinkle into letters and envelopes. Add to mojo bags or witchy pouches. Use as and where you would use a herb mix. Do not take internally or use on the skin.
